The "Future of Sustainable Economy and Finance: Global Challenges and Opportunities" symposium, organized by the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) Sustainable Development and Finance Working Group, convened at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University (AYBÜ) to examine the impact of sustainability on the economic and financial sectors and discuss global challenges.
Designed to address obstacles to sustainable economic growth and financial stability, the symposium brought together more than 20 speakers from over 10 institutions and universities across various disciplines. The event facilitated a high-level exchange of ideas and knowledge for a sustainable future through interactions among academics, policymakers, business leaders, and civil society representatives.
Moderated by Prof. Mehmet Bulut, the panel featured Zekeriya Coştu, Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology; Dr. Tuğba Dinçbaş, Deputy Director of Climate Change; and Deniz Yılmaz, Director General of Financial Markets and Exchange at the Ministry of Treasury and Finance. During the session, Dr. Tuğba Dinçbaş provided insights into the Directorate’s current activities and future projections regarding the green taxonomy, the emission trading system, and the long-term climate strategy within the framework of climate change and sustainable finance.
By analyzing strategic approaches to sustainable finance, the symposium hepled provide an overview of innovative solutions for overcoming global challenges and raise social awareness on sustainability.
