Murat Kurum, Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change and COP31 President, held a meeting with Sohail Mahmoud, Secretary-General of the Developing-8 (D-8) Organization for Economic Cooperation.

The meeting, which was also attended by Prof. Halil Hasar, Director of Climate Change, featured detailed discussions on the preparations for the 31st Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP31), to be hosted by Türkiye this November.

Following the session, COP31 President Kurum shared an update on social media, describing the meeting as highly productive and highlighting the importance of strong cooperation. He also noted that they discussed Türkiye’s ongoing efforts regarding the COP31 “Action Agenda.”

In addition, the meeting delved into potential partnerships and joint projects that could be implemented with D-8 member states as part of the global fight against climate change.
