Deputy Director Orhan Solak Attends Innovate4Climate (I4C) Conference

The World Bank recently convened the annual Innovate4Climate (I4C) conference in Berlin, held from September 10–12.

Hosted by the World Bank, Innovate4Climate (I4C)—an annual conference dedicated to climate finance, climate investment, and climate markets—convened this year in Berlin from September 10–12.

At the conference, high-level participants from both the private and public sectors addressed issues such as developing carbon market infrastructure and establishing connections and cooperation regarding carbon markets and climate finance instruments.

Orhan Solak, Deputy Director of the Directorate of Climate Change at the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, represented Türkiye as a panelist in the session titled “The Development of New Emission Trading Systems: Recent Developments in Countries.”

Deputy Director Solak provided a technical briefing on the roadmap for the Turkish Emission Trading System (ETS), sharing insights into the implementation phase and the strategic interventions used to overcome regulatory and technical hurdles. The session also enabled an exchange of best practices with international counterparts on the domestic deployment of carbon pricing instruments.
