Sustainability Forum Middle East was held in Bahrain. Deputy Director of Climate Change Mehrali Ecer attended the meeting, which is considered the region's most prominent climate forum.
Deputy Director Ecer participated in high-level sessions at the forum held in Manama, the capital of Bahrain. Speaking at a panel discussion titled ‘Climate Diplomacy in a Divided World: Regional Strategies for Alignment and Delivery’ held as part of the forum, Ecer pointed out that the climate crisis is steadily deepening. He explained Türkiye’s climate policies to the participants by drawing attention to the Climate Law and, in this context, the preparation of the Emission Trading System, the Green Taxonomy of Türkiye, and Local Climate Change Action Plans.
Sustainability Forum Middle East aims to encourage private sector climate action and raise awareness in this field, emphasizing that the adoption of sustainability and decarbonization is critical for Middle East and North Africa (MENA) countries to reach their net-zero targets. In addition to the annual flagship event, the forum consists of high-level roundtables held throughout the region during the year, addressing critical issues for the decarbonization of MENA economies.
Following their engagements at the forum, Deputy Director Ecer and his accompanying delegation also visited the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Manama and provided information regarding Türkiye’s policies for combating climate change and its diplomatic efforts on the international stage.
