The Directorate of Climate Change took part in the First Workshop of the Green Taxonomy Sub-Working Group, which was held in Istanbul. The event was supported by the Business Council for Sustainable Development Türkiye (BCSD Türkiye), led by the Development and Investment Bank of Türkiye (TKYB), and hosted by Boğaziçi University.

Deputy Director of Climate Change Mehrali Ecer attended the workshop, which focused on the themes of greenhouse gas mitigation and climate change adaptation. Delivering the opening remarks at the workshop, Deputy Director Ecer briefly touched upon the preparations for COP31, to be hosted by Türkiye. He highlighted the ongoing development of secondary legislation for the Turkish Green Taxonomy, the Emission Trading System (ETS), and Local Climate Change Action Plans, all of which are set to take effect shortly following the enactment of the Climate Law. He briefed representatives from the private and financial sectors on Türkiye's recently accelerated climate policies. The workshop featured two sessions titled “Sectoral Implementation and Mitigation Criteria” and “Financial Integration, Measurement, and Common Roadmap.”

These sessions facilitated an exchange of information with the energy, industry, transport, and construction sectors regarding the Turkish Green Taxonomy process, which is slated for imminent implementation.
