Director of Climate Change Hasar Receives Representatives from Colombia and the Netherlands

Prof. Halil Hasar, Director of Climate Change, received Nathalie Lintvelt, Deputy Ambassador of the Netherlands, accompanied by Sander Lossekoot, and Nicolas Covaria Lopez, Representative of the Embassy of Colombia.

The meeting, held at the Directorate of Climate Change, focused on Türkiye’s COP31 presidency and multilateral cooperation.
During the visit, the representatives invited Director Hasar to the "Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels" in Colombia, emphasizing the importance of Türkiye's participation.

Approximately 130 international delegates are expected to attend the conference where participants will address the hurdles, implementation challenges, and strategic solutions surrounding the global transition from fossil fuels.

Expressing his satisfaction with the visit, Director Hasar outlined Türkiye's climate vision. He noted that Türkiye possesses a wealth of expertise and good practices in renewable energy and values the opportunity to share this experience with the international community through the conference.

At the upcoming conference in Santa Marta, Director Hasar underlined that Türkiye will maintain an impartial approach, ensuring all parties are heard. He also announced that the Action Agenda will be launched on the official COP website in May, followed by an international announcement at an event in Bonn this June.

The meeting also reviewed the global "Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels" initiative, a joint effort by Colombia and the Netherlands. Furthermore, the participants discussed how recent global developments, particularly in the Middle East, underscore the critical need for renewable energy, resource diversification, and energy security.
